The methods of recipe
There are three ways to concoct coconut ice cream:
- The traditional way
- Without dairy products
- Flavored with other ingredients.
For our case, we will make the recipe in the traditional way with or without an ice cream maker.
The basic ingredients
To make it, we need the following ingredients:
- 40 cl of coconut milk
- 20 cl of liquid cream 30
- 80 g of sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 3 large tablespoons of grated coconut
- Toasted coconut for decoration.
The steps are as follows. If you make the ice cream with an ice cream maker, the ice cream maker must be put in the freezer at least 8 hours before preparing the ice cream. However, this time varies depending on the model of the ice cream maker. On the eve of making: First, heat the cream and coconut milk in a saucepan over low heat.
At the same time, you mix the sugar and egg yolks in a bowl and whisk them together. When you see that the cream and the coconut milk are hot, you pour a third of it onto the sugar and egg mixture with a whisk. Then pour the mixture back into the pan. Then, you put on low heat while stirring until the preparation coats your spoon.
After that, remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool. Then, cover the preparation and keep it in the refrigerator so that it is cold before turning. To obtain a very cold result, the ideal conservation is one whole night. After the night of conservation, the preparation is quite cold; you take out the ice cream maker to start it and pour the preparation.
Finally, you turbinate for 15 to 20 minutes. When the ice cream is ready, pour it into a tray and add the grated coconut. Put it in the freezer for a few hours before eating it. The arrangement of the coconut will be the final touch in the preparation of your ice cream. However, to obtain a soft ice cream, it is advisable to take out the ice cream 20 minutes before tasting it.
If you make the ice cream without an ice cream maker
By this fact, you will have to do the work of the ice cream maker. To do this: First, you prepare the basic preparation like the one with the ice cream maker and put it in the refrigerator. When the preparation is completely cold, you pour it into a container with a lid that will perfectly fill the preparation’s volume. Then freeze it for one hour.
After this time, you take it out and stir it in order to destroy the crystals. To do this, the ideal is to use a mixer or an electric mixer. However, you can opt for a fork or a whisk if you do not have one. Finally, put the mixture back in the freezer and repeat this stirring action every 30 minutes to eliminate crystal formation. This operation must be carried out for 3 hours.
