Renting A Karaoke Room In Paris: Is It A Good Plan?

Renting A Karaoke Room In Paris: Is It A Good Plan?

Karaoke is fun, especially when surrounded by your friends and alcohol rules. If you love to sing but have the voice of a raven, then karaoke is for you. All kidding aside, karaoke is a great way to mingle with your friends and have a good time

Paris is a big city that hosts a lot of events every day. With the influx of tourists, it is often difficult to find a karaoke room to enjoy with friends. But luckily, there is a simple way to get a venue. Here is what you need to know to rent a karaoke room in Paris.

What is it?

The original “sing along” technology originated in California, but the first device that allowed people to sing alone was developed and widely popularized in Japan in the 1970s. The original device required you to pay money and then let you hear a recorded version of a song that you could sing into an attached microphone.

It quickly became a form of entertainment and became popular at parties and restaurants throughout Japan, where music and singing were traditional accompaniments to the festivities. The popularity of karaoke quickly spread to Asia and America, and you can find karaoke lounges on both continents.

Karaoke is very popular worldwide, but it is especially popular in the US and Asia. It is a popular pastime where the lyrics of a song are sung, usually along with the recording of the original background music of the song.

It allows people to sing their favorite songs live with their friends and enable you to perform your favorite songs without being interrupted by the original singer. Whether you can sing or not, karaoke is fun that will make you go into raptures, but you’ll have a good time in any case.

Which one to choose?

Paris is a fabulous city that comes alive day and night. Many individuals and professionals rent karaoke rooms for their activities. But before choosing the room adapted to your needs, you should always check if the place has a karaoke restaurant. It sometimes happens that some establishments in Paris do not offer a place to have lunch or dinner in order to regain strength.

The fact is that after an activity, you have to go to a restaurant in the place to refresh yourself. This is why it is essential to choose a karaoke venue that provides its customers with a catering service to accompany their karaoke sessions. Some serious establishments also offer a banqueting service to organize private or professional events.

Not all establishments have a karaoke room that meets your needs. On that note, it is good to consider the space if the number of participants is important. In addition, it is important to choose a comfortable setting that is lively enough. The setting should be airy so that everyone feels at ease.

Karaoke room: how do you choose a less expensive establishment in Paris?

There is a wide range of karaoke rooms in Paris, but they do not all have the same price. To choose a cheap venue, you need to do some research. Indeed, to find the room which corresponds to its needs, it is important to search on the net to select the establishments available in the Parisian city.

Let us recall that the rooms to rent in Paris are numerous and available. After the selection, it will be a question of comparing the rental offers. Then, it will be necessary to choose the room adapted to its expectations. Once done, one will contact the service to fill the formalities of use to guarantee the room karaoke.

In order to find exactly the one you need, it is recommended to decide quickly. We will not wait until the last minute to look for one if not to do with the rooms that remain. Finally, you should not forget the catering side, especially if you are accompanied by a guest.

Karaoke room: can we book?

It is possible to reserve a karaoke room if you need time to organize yourself. To do this, you must go to the room of your choice once on the site. Then, you will have to specify the number of participants for the session. The price will be adjusted according to the number of people who will take part.

After validation, you will choose the 2-hour slot on the session schedule. Once indicated, you will have to pay directly online. The service will send the confirmation of the reservation by e-mail, and everything is done. For any modification, it is important to contact the service one day before to avoid some last-minute situations.

Christmas Ornaments

How to Make Christmas Ornaments

How to Make Christmas Ornaments

Sparkling, shimmering, magical baubles are the must-have ornament for any self-respecting Christmas tree. However, we get tired of using the same ones repeatedly. If you feel like a change, don’t hesitate: make your baubles to match your Christmas theme of the year!

This post gives you some ideas on making Christmas ornaments and explains how to proceed.

Case 1: Make Christmas ornaments out of string

These aerial ornaments are also fun to make, even if the work is messy… Kids will love it!

For this project, you will need:

– an inflatable balloon;

– Vaseline;

– wallpaper paste;

– disposable gloves;

– string;

– a cup;

– a salad bowl;

– glue varnish;

– a needle;

– and glitter.

Inflate a small balloon until it reaches the size of an orange. Tie the end well.

Coat the balloon with petroleum jelly or fatty cream (which will make it easier to peel off the string later).

Mix wallpaper paste in a bowl.

Protect yourself with disposable gloves.

Soak a long string length (not too thick or thin) in the glue.

Starting at the top of the balloon (knotted end), glue string to the balloon, forming an airy mesh around it.

Let it dry in a cup until the string net is rigid (24 hours minimum).

Pierce the balloon with a needle and remove it from its net (this operation is made easier by the Vaseline).

Optional: To make your ball of string shine, spray it with glue varnish, sprinkle it with glitter powder (in hobby stores) and shake the excess over a plate. It’s especially magical if you glitter a ball of white string this way.

 Case 2: Garnish clear balls

Get transparent balls that open in half (in hobby stores) and decorate them as you like:

Styrofoam balls (sold at hobby stores) and a few dry branch trimmings or holly sprigs.

Styrofoam balls and a miniature tree, or a piece of tree branch placed vertically.

Styrofoam balls and an elf, a miniature Santa Claus, mini mushrooms or mini Yule log decorations.

White or coloured feathers.

Silver sugar beads.

Artificial flowers, etc.

Another technique: open the ball and spray the inside with glue varnish from a can. Sprinkle the glaze with powdered glitter, shake the excess over a plate and close the ball.

 Case 3: Make Styrofoam balls sparkle

For this project, you will need:

– Styrofoam balls;

– Sequins;

– Pins;

– Ribbon.

Get polystyrene balls (in hobby stores) of the diameter of your choice.

Get sequins with a hole in the middle.

Attach a sequin by pushing the pin into the Styrofoam with a regular pin.

Attach a second sequin slightly overlapping the first, and so on until the ball is completely covered, leaving a small space at the end. You can make a plain ball or decorate it with patterns you like.

Cut 8 cm of 2 mm wide ribbon. Form a loop and pin the base of the loop securely to the space in the ball.

Finish masking the space with a few last sequins and pins.

 Case 4: Transforming old balls with fabric

For this project, you will need:

– fabric;

– old Christmas ornaments;

– scissors and scalloped scissors;

– 2 mm wide assorted ribbon;

– 8 mm wide matching ribbon.

Obtain yardage of fabric:

e.g. plain, or better crinkled, polyester taffeta: this is both an inexpensive and shimmery material;

or lightweight printed cotton, such as stripes, polka dots, or a Christmas theme.

Gather your Christmas ornaments from previous years.

Christmas Ornaments

Cut a square from the fabric large enough for each bauble to enclose the bauble completely.

Place the ball in the middle of the square.

Cut 10 cm of 2 mm wide ribbon.

Wrap the ball as tightly as possible with the fabric, arranging the folds that form harmoniously.

Tie the fabric at the top of the ball securely with the ribbon, trapping a branch of greenery or a small decoration (flower…) if you wish.

Tie the two ends of the ribbon together to form the ball attachment.

If possible, trim the excess fabric with a pair of serrated scissors, which will prevent the material from fraying and finish the ball nicely.

With a larger piece of ribbon (8 mm), form a pretty bow around the ball.

The advantage of this method is that you can customize your baubles next year in a different way at little cost.

 Case 5: Transform your old balls with a snow effect

For this project, you will need:

– Styrofoam balls;

– acrylic paint;

– a paintbrush;

– glue varnish in a spray can.

This technique is to be used with old, chipped or faded balls.

If you are in a hurry, spray them with artificial snow and, if you want a more refined result, make them sparkle by sticking some rhinestones on them.

If you want more original customization, coat your balls with polystyrene balls (in hobby stores):

Either paint the ball with white acrylic paint or leave it as is (you will see its original colour, not entirely camouflaged by the polystyrene balls).

Fill a bowl with Styrofoam balls

Spray the entire surface of the ball with spray glue.

Holding the ball by its attachment, dip it into the bowl until it is completely covered with the Styrofoam beads, using a spoon if necessary.

Let the ball dry.

Note: you can customize white Styrofoam balls in the same way.

Hillsong Music: How By Your Side Conquered the World?

Hillsong Music: How By Your Side Conquered the World?

I always like to start with something personal, so please bear it with me!

Ever since I was little, I was introduced to all kinds of Christian music, from the 80’s hymnals to the mid 90’s worship music. I liked listening to Christian music, but it wasn’t until when I was 19 years old that a spark lit inside me and made it a very core part of who I am today. I know it sounds somehow “cheesy,” and I did find it strange at first, but I didn’t just enjoy the music, I felt it also. Whenever I would hear something like, “Thank you for the cross…thank you for the price you paid…thank you for the nailed pieced hands…” I could feel as if God was talking to me and telling me that He died on that cross for me; it was not just about visualizing what was being sung but feeling and receiving the truth in it. I know it’s complicated for me to explain and for you to understand, but after that experience I had, I wanted more. I know today there’s a world filled with Christian songs to explore, but personally, Hillsong music is my favorite since it brought me closer to God than before.

As a fan, I’m aware that the Hillsong church has been plagued by a lot of controversies. I also know that many believers, including some of my church, do not really appreciate Hillsong music because they believe these songs and lyrics elevate feelings above faith. I won’t either dismiss these arguments or support them. I’m here just to testify how the Hillsong music has changed my life and my walk with God.

Some experts have claimed that listening to music is like a therapy for the soul, which is why people will always feel at peace when they listen to Christian worship songs. However, for me, it was just about the peace and the comfort; if right now I was to listen to any of the songs from By Your side (Hillsong Album), it’ll make me realize how far I am from God and how close I need to get to Him.

I read somewhere that the mission of Hillsong music is to “reach out and awaken believers to the fact that we are all redeemed and called to glorify and worship our Lord Jesus Christ.” And, I must say they did succeed in awakening one believer!

By Your Side

By Your Side

Recorded live at the Hills Christian Life Centre building, By Your Sidis the eighth album in the praise and worship series by Hillsong Church. This album consists of fourteen songs and they were sung by Darlene Zschech and the then Hillsong team. Most of the songs were written by Darlene Zschech and Reuben Morgan. It is noted that Aran Puddle, Russell Frager, Luke Munns, Marty Sampson, Raymond Badham and Miriam Webster also contributed to the writing and making of these songs.

The album was released in 1999 and back then it conquered the whole world of believers. It even reached No. 21 on the Billboard Top Contemporary Christian Albums chart. The songs were constantly being sung in churches and played in Christian houses all around the world. It was phenomenal!

5 Lessons Every DJ Should Know

When you decide to take on Dj-ing as a career there will be days when you will be invited to play at big parties and others in small ones. There is little chance that you will become a very famous DJ making world tours- not that I am judging but the number of DJs that made it there are very few.

Do not get me wrong, you will be able to play at some big parties with a big crowd. As you mature in the sphere you will learn a lot of things- and today I will share with you what I had learn and the tips and tricks that I still use to this day.

1. A Good Track Beats A Good Mix

Dj, Entertainment, Dj Party, Performance

When we think about Deejaying, we automatically think about mixing- but to be a good DJ you need to know the good tracks out there first. When you mix bad tracks it remains bad tracks, so everything starts with the tracks that you will be choosing first. A good DJ will accomplish a good transition but a great DJ will choose a good piece of music first.

So this can be considered step one of being a good DJ. As a DJ you should not have ego or pride, you are here to make people have fun dancing so if they are requesting a song, even if you are not a big fan I recommend you share it with them.

2. Occasional Mistake

It is important that you have a high standard as a DJ, remember this is an art. But it will take you years to tweak everything down and to be the smoothest DJ. You should be able to recognize every one of your mistakes so that you know where you should improve. Keep in mind that it’s okay to make mistakes and it will definitely happen. Take it as a chance to learn.

3. It Is Your Job

Most people do not see Djing as being a job until they have to do it themselves, so you should always be reminding yourself that this is your job. It can seem glamorous, you are always partying, but this is not really the truth. It is not always as glamorous as it seems.

The working hours can be quite hard at times, working conditions can be hazardous- you are expected to do various jobs at the same time and believe me you do not have that much time to enjoy yourself. So, you should be paid for what you are doing do not accept drinks or foods as ‘wages’ – they are part of what they should be given to you when you are performing.

Make it clear this is part of the job- this should be given to you but if it is not, this should be already discussed beforehand.

Party, Music, Dj, Atmosphere, Lighting

4. Not Always About Music

Being a DJ will require you a lot of skills. Most of the time your audience will be under alcohol influence, so you should master the skills of handling people coming around you drunk. You should be able to master politeness and charm even if you really don’t want to be. You should be able to talk to your drunk patrons and make negotiations.

5. It’s Supposed To Be Fun

Sure, it will not be a fairytale from the beginning to the end, but it should not be a nightmare too. There are a lot of complications that you will have to face, too many requests or bringing the wrong USB but you should know that Djing is one of the terrible fun ways to spend your time.

Whether you meet the upper level or not- you are a DJ. There is no other job like yours and you should be proud of that. There are many things that you need to learn as a DJ, and this can be done through courses available at Rakoon Sound Studios. This is a great way to start as they provide you with fully-equipped studios, music masters to accompany you, and also cozy and popular locations. So do not wait any longer and contact Rakoon Sound Studios.

Buying Your First Boat: The 5 Rules To Follow

For many sailors, buying a boat is the culmination of a dream. Whatever your plan, it will cost you time and money. So it’s important to make the right choice. Here is a guide to help you buy your boat.

1. Choose a boat that fits your sailing plan

Your crush on a boat can turn into a real ordeal. The first step is to make a choice based on your sailing schedule. Do you prefer a motorboat to a sailboat? Are you ready to spend a lot of time on a classic wooden motor? There is a multitude of models with completely different uses. If you are experienced, take your time to make the right decision. If you are a novice, it is better to get help from a specialist. This will help you avoid many unfortunate mistakes.

2. Define your budget

Don’t kid yourself; there is more to buying a boat than just the cost. You have to consider maintenance, insurance, harbor space, etc. Per year, these costs can be as high as 10% of the purchase price of the boat. They can climb even faster than old boats. To do this, you must do your accounts and, above all, define your priorities. Determining your budget will allow you to better orient your choice.

3. Do your research

Once you have determined your budget and chosen the features of your boat, it is time to start looking for it. Start by creating a list of favorite boats that have the essential characteristics that interest you. This list will allow you to make the first selection and refine your search.

Then, go to the brokers’ ads. For the most part, they are comprehensive and give you the opportunity to verify the specifications yourself. Take a close look at the photos in the ad, and don’t be fooled. Also, explore the internet for specialized boat sales portals.

Nowadays, almost all boat brands have at least one website. This gives you direct access to a multitude of boats. Do not neglect the used boat sales websites. Also, do some research on the online comparison sites. Thanks to their filters, they will give you access to a wide range of boats.

4. Make visits

Whether you are a regular or not, have a broker accompany you on a boat tour. While on the premises, make sure you remain objective. Don’t let euphoria or a negative first impression guide you. Start by checking out the boat’s engine. Then, move on to the interior of the boat to get a close look at the woodwork, electronics, cabins, etc.

Look out for any leaks or other faults. However, keep in mind that no matter what the problem is, a solution can be found. After this step, ask to try the boat. During the test drive, pay attention and take notes on the boat’s behavior. This may help you adjust the estimate if you feel repairs are needed.

5. Negotiate the sale price

Prepare an estimate of all the items that will need to be repaired and the prices of similar boats. The goal is to pay a fair price for the boat. Keep in mind that the negotiation can be lengthy. The seller may offer to do the repairs himself and keep the sale price. Consider all options and make some compromises. However, never feel obliged to accept conditions that are not to your liking.

Final thoughts

Buying a boat is like buying a home or car; it is a real and significant investment that not everyone can dream of or even achieve. This is why you need to do your due diligence before putting yourself on the market to buy one. If you are buying a boat, you should splurge a little but also respect your budget.

Should Children Be Introduced to Music?

Believe it or not, music can be a hobby, from listening to them playing an instrument or singing. But it is the simplest hobby out there; if you are only listening to it, you have to sit back, relax, and it to your favorite artist and listen to them. Listening to Music as a hobby can be as simple as that, but you can also take it a step further by analyzing said lyrics or music videos, leading to a future career path as a music critic.

Playing an instrument can also be a great add-on to your college resume and make you a more viable option to be chosen as one of the few students in a high-ranking college. Introducing a child to music at an early age is very beneficial. You don’t need complicated equipment or special skills to do this. Discover in this article the benefits of music for a child.

Music is a way to communicate love

A song or dance with your child will allow you to convey your love and affection. It is an excellent way to create a positive bond with your child. In the same situation, when you make music for your little one, it’s a great way to create a bond.

Music enhances children’s ability to learn

Musical activities (e.g., banging rhythms on a drum, listening to different music, etc.) stimulate the brain. They practice memory skills, attention, thought organization, and control of certain behaviors. If you want to ensure your children’s future, trust AcadémieLax.

Songs and rhymes improve language.

The words and lyrics heard in songs help your child build vocabulary. Hearing artists sing them to make sounds, say words, and form sentences. Also, your toddler will gradually learn that words are made up of syllables and sounds through songs and rhymes, which will help him later when he knows to read and write.

Music brings out the creativity

When your child reacts automatically to music or the discovery of the sound of an instrument, it encourages artistic expression. A child develops their imagination by making up song lyrics or gestures.

Develops his musical sense

Exposure to various musical styles (pop-rock, jazz, RnB, classical, etc.) enhances a child’s sense of music and musical taste.

Improves social life

Being in contact with other children allows your little one’s social development, such as sharing instruments, following rules, etc. No matter how old your child is, try to get them into training to build their brain.

Music teaches emotional management

Singing and making music promote the production of hormones associated with pleasure, well-being, and confidence. Music helps children calm down and manage their emotions. When premature babies are sung to, their heart rate stabilizes, and their breathing is calmer. The best ways to introduce your child to music

Take advantage of small, pleasant family moments such as diaper changes, bath time, putting toys away, and bedtime routines to sing to your child. Introduce your child to favorite childhood songs such as “Can You Plant Cabbage”.

Playfully transform songs and rhymes

Teach your child to pay attention to sounds when listening to music. For example, when they hear a song, ask them what they hear and what the music makes them think of. This will develop their auditory memory. For example, use a mouse or giant voice by clapping your hands and changing the words.

Give preference to real musical instruments

Piano, xylophone, tambourine, etc… These instruments produce better quality sound. If the child does not practice music very early, nothing is lost. It is not the same as learning a foreign language, where it becomes complicated with age, but music, the more you listen, the easier it is.

You can, for example, develop music workshops in kindergarten to allow children to define their intelligence in this area. Thus, it is important to follow the child so that they can blossom through music. Looking after the well-being of your child is an important task for parents. You must always be close to your child.

Street Culture: A Passion, A Way Of Life

The expression “street culture” or “urban culture” covers all the cultural, artistic, and sometimes sporting practices originating from large urban complexes’ underprivileged areas. This culture started in the 80s with the arrival of hip-hop.

It encompasses fashion, dance, music, sports, as well as street art… However, this culture is, above all, a passion, even a way of life. So, without further ado, let’s dive into this blog and learn more about street art and culture.

What do we mean by urban culture?

Urban culture was once defined generically as the art of living in a heterogeneous and dense environment. This culture is a set of skills that allow one to adjust to the lifestyle of the urban environment. Indeed, living in a conurbation can completely change the body’s modes of perception and relationship to the world around us.

For a few years now, urban culture has become very present in disadvantaged neighborhoods, and groups together sport with the various urban arts. With street culture, the disciplines are varied: musical genres and dance styles (rap, hip-hop, slam, human beatbox), street sports (rollerblading, skateboarding, BMX, street basketball, parkour, street soccer…), graffiti, piercings, and tattoos, etc.

The “urban culture” is understood with the definition of the word culture, which is the whole of the intellectual and artistic activities shared by the total of a group of individuals. This group of people must share moral values, the same language, and the same history.

However, the “urban culture” has become globalized, with a whole linguistic diversity. But despite the communication made complex through the word, the street culture uses from now on gestural language through rap and the dress of urban style.

Functioning of some street culture disciplines

1. The use of the skateboard

The skateboard, generally called skateboard, was born in the United States in the middle of the 50s. The skateboard constitutes the set of very diversified uses of this board, which from a simple child’s game, passes by means of locomotion in the streets to finish with the sports and ludic uses.

However, its visibility and sound can disturb citizens. Thus, skateboarders must comply with the standards and regulations.

Since the mid-90s, demand for specialized equipment for skateboarders has emerged, including the launch of skateparks. This was done in order to channel skateboarders away from the public space. Indeed, skateparks create jobs specialized in urban culture, including specialized stores, professional trainers, etc.

2. Graffiti

The appearance of graffiti dates back to the early 60s, with a simple function of marking territory. Over time, it has become a systematic signature placed in key points for better visibility. All graffiti artists share a passion for drawing, allowing them to express their need for recognition and their fantasy of power in different ways.

Therefore, it is often perceived as a teenage rebellion. And yet, it is a way of life for some. Indeed, many adults pursue their professional careers in graffiti. New York graffiti pioneer and legend Dondi White (1961-1998) inspired American designer Virgil Abloh, who presented the show of his label Off-White on the eve of his first show for Louis Vuitton men.

The name “Dondi” is spread on white T-shirts decorated with graffiti, with extra-large sleeves that reach below the elbows, in a spirit of 80 / 90. The Simpsons” cartoon is also featured on T-shirts, sweaters, and sweatshirts.

The look of the character of Jim Stark, played by James Dean in “La Fureur de Vivre”, has also inspired the designer, who offers his version of the set of red jacket, white T-shirt, and jeans of the hero, which also gives its name to the collection.

3. Hip-hop street dance

Hip-hop dance is a dance style inspired by African-American cultures. It has all the characteristics of popular group dances, inspired by everyday life. Thus, street dance is based on the principle of reciprocity and exchange between dancers, cultivating a personal creative style within difference.

Hip-hoppers began their performance on the street before educators trained them in contemporary dance. Indeed, hip-hop technique has become taught through institutions and by contemporary choreographers who work closely with street groups. This is to allow them to have access to artistic maturity.

Top 3 Best Queer Indian Movies That Everyone Should Watch

As a queer person, I love looking for queer movies. I grew up In the Bronx, and my parents immigrated from India to give my sibling and me a better life. I grew up watching Bollywood movies, From the classics to Mera Naam Joker, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Om Shanti Om to newer films like Gangubai Katiawadi and Badhaii Do.

As I grew up, I started to discover my sexuality and gender identity, and while on that journey, I searched high and low to find queer Indian/Bollywood movies. I have watched all queer Bollywood movies out there, no matter how small or big they were. So, without further ado, let’s dive into this blog and learn some of the best queer Indian movies that everyone should watch.

Background on Queer Cinema

The image of homosexuality and queerness in cinema has evolved since the 1960s, when the LGBT theme, long censored, began to develop. The time of La Cage aux Folles and Pédale douce, which shared an extravagant, mannered, and reductive portrait of the queer community, is over.

No, queer people are not depraved sex addicts, as depicted in the 1933 silent short film Lot in Sodom. However, it was not until Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain in 2006 that homosexuality became democratized and integrated into the mores. Today, cinema tends to be more truthful and respectful.

If the representation of queer couples seems to be more common in TV series today, it has not always been the case. Prior to the 1980s, displaying sexual orientation, especially homosexuality and queerness, in a TV series was not a popular choice for society and viewers.

Except for representing a population considered at the time as marginal, unbalanced, sick, or asocial, same-sex love relationships were not put forward. The subject is still taboo. Everything must remain suggested or ambiguous rather than clearly expressed.

Fortunately, the representation on the screen of lesbian or gay relationships has evolved and been more and more present since the 1990s. Today we have the opportunity to discover some LGBTQIA+ series on Netflix that put forward interesting, deep, and less and less caricatured roles of lesbian, gay, bisexual, or trans characters.

1. Badhaai Do

This one is the latest queer Bollywood movie on our list, and it came out this year. If you have two and a half hours to spare, stream it on Netflix, grab a box of tissue because this movie will make you feel all the feels, and cry like a baby.

The story revolves around Sumi (portrayed by Bhumi Pednekar), a high-school PE teacher, and Shardul (played by Rajkummar Rao), a police officer. Both of them are queer and still closeted to their family and decide to get married to get their parents off their backs. Words can’t do this movie justice, and you have to watch it.

This movie breaks down so many stereotypes and is one of those movies that will go down in history as one of the best queer movies. Watch how Sumi and Shardul navigate their sexuality and find happiness in their fake marriage and how this all goes down to hell. Will their families accept them? Will they find their happily ever after? Will they ever be happy? You have to watch the movie to find out.

Raj Bansal, industry expert, says, “I am really impressed with the Badhaai Do makers’ decision to release the film on February 11, at a time when others weren’t ready to take the same call. It was a brave and bold decision and it has paid dividends.”

He further elaborates that “the film is doing very well, and the release date being close to Valentine’s Day was an added impetus. The film’s already collected ’11 crore plus in five days, even with the restrictions in most of the states. It was a master strategy indeed.”

2. Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga

This is another mainstream movie on our list, and you can also stream it on Netflix. It features some pretty big Bollywood stars like Sonam Kapoor as Sweety Chaudhary and Anil Kapoor as Balbir Chaudhry. The real-life father-daughter duo plays their roles to the max, and their relationship will make you cry.

As you might have guessed, Sonam isn’t straight and is in love with another woman (Kuhu, played by Regina Cassandra). As you can imagine, Sweety’s Punjabi family doesn’t take the news well, and it is their journey towards acceptance. The final 10 minutes of the movie will make you cry tears of joy.

3. Kapoor and Sons

This is one of my favorite movies out there because it reminds me of my crazy dysfunctional desi family. Like my family, Kapoor’s family is constantly at each other’s throats, but they deeply love each other, and you can see that in the way they care for each other.

The story follows the 2 Kapoor sons: Rahul (portrayed by Fawad Khan) and Arjun (played by Sidharth Malhotra), who can’t get along. Arjun falls for a girl who, in turn, falls for Rahul, creating a further rift in their relationship.

While using Rahul’s computer, Sunita Kapoor (played by the legend Patna Pathak Shah) discovers that her son is queer by seeing pictures of him and his partner on vacation. You can see where this is going if you have a conservative and traditional desi mom.

Fawad Khan had this to say about this specific role “Even if someone plays a character like that, why will he or she become an outcast? Give it some years, and things will become normal. In the future, everyone who gets worried about these things (homosexuality) will learn to accept them. If someone is a certain way, he or she just is.”
